Hi,

Can someone please tell me what on earth I have to do to get some support from this company?

I have provided my order number / receipt details using the appropriate thread on this problem and STILL my original question is being ignored.  I am trying to get through to someone using create > new topic on this website but most categories are  greyed out so I can't even ask my question in the right place.

I have purchased a boxed version of REX 4 texture direct with soft clouds (The Flight Sim Store - #FSS0462437) which will not update itself.  Every time I start the program it prompts me to update then when I try to run the .exe it fails, providing this message:

"This installation package could not be opened.  Verify the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

PLEASE, CAN A MEMBER OF REX STAFF RESPOND?

Do the following:

1. Completely disable your antivirus software.

2. Re-download REX with a download manager, if you have not already.

3. Decompress the files with 7zip or WinZip, if applicable.

4. Make sure your UAC (User Account Control) is set to never notify.

5. With your antivirus still disabled, right-click setup.exe and choose "Run as Administrator."

Let us know how that goes.

I have just spent a further 35 minutes following your suggestion.  As mentioned previously, I have a boxed version not a download, but I uninstalled, disabled antivirus and UAC, explored the disc to locate the set up file and 'run as administrator' to reinstall.  The end result was identical.

On REX startup I am told to update to 4.7.2015.0818.  I click OK, save the exe file to my desktop, right click then 'run as admin' but then receive the error:

"This installation package could not be opened.  Verify the package exists and that you can access it or contact the application vendor to verify that this is a valid windows installer package"

I applied the hotfix successfully but the program still prompts me to update when started.  I have done this twice since applying the hotfix but now, in the third instance, I receive the message:  "This program is not commonly downloaded and could harm your computer".  Smartscreen filter also reports it is 'not signed by its author'.

Having spent so much time trying to sort out these problems with your software, I would like to suggest that you send me a link and serial number for a download copy of your latest updated version.  To be honest, I am tired of all the problems related to this DVD version purchase from The Flight Sim Store.  On reflection I don't think you should be selling old boxed versions with all these problems. 

Please arrange for a link to be sent, for your latest download version with a new serial number, assuming I cannot use the serial from the boxed copy I have here?
