I have the same scenario that this user has.

I have applied the sql server LocalDB files (it failed installation, as it said i already had them installed)

Ran sqllocaldb.exe file and has same result as user above.

It just loads to a black screen. and if i click on the black screen, windows tells me the program is not responding.)

Notes: Have REX Essentials w/ OD, installed   I have win 10 64bit.  I have reinstalled REX Textures, rebooted, REX Tex is not installed in P3d Dir.

Please advise.

Thanks.

Thanks for the detailed instructions.

I still cannot get it to work for some reason.

I Believe the issue lies with the .net framework.

the sqlprocess.bat file outputs a process stopped confirmation

Followed instructions as indicated above.

Please try the following:

1.) Any Antivirus software needs to have REX 4 set within its exclusion list.  You may have to add the folder where the SQL instance is located:  {drive name:}/Users/{YOUR NAME}/AppData/Local/Microsoft/Microsoft SQL Server Local DB/Instances

2.) Make sure that you right click the REX Icon and select "Run as Administrator".   You may need to switch compatibility to Windows 8.1.

3.) Here is a better process file to use so it doesn't delete the database: http://www.mediafire.com/download/8n9urkl744i2jt4/sqlstartup.zip

Let me know how it goes.

Thanks for the reply,  Started with anitvirus off, ran in win 8 compat. mode. launched as admin. ***Edit: ran sqlstartup.bat as admin***

still hangs.. but... something i just discovered prior to applying the above fixes.

If left to run for an extended period of time. the app does launch past the splash screen! however, upon each mouse click, such as adding my p3d directory as the simulator to apply textures to. The app again hangs (spinning circle) for an extended duration( several minutes).

is a complete refresh of the simulator, and add-ons an option that should be explored?

Thanks

Thank you for your patience.

We have recently re-written REX 4 Texture Direct / REX 4 Texture Direct with Soft Clouds and REX Soft Clouds.  This new build removes the requirement for Microsoft's SQL Server Local DB.  Please go to where you purchased REX and re-download the latest build or contact support@rexgamestudios.com to acquire a direct download link.  You must have a valid serial key to install the program.
