  1. Hey, I have a quick questin about the flight plans being loaded into FSX...I create a plan in REX with no issue but after I set everything up and click fly now, FSX opens but my flight plan is nowhere to be found...the only way I have been able to load it is if I save my plan in REX then manually load it in FSX. Am I doing something wrong or is this normal? Thanks P.S. Getting Topic Prefix error when trying to post in FSX support forum
  2. I presently have purchased from flightsim.store REX Essentials version build 3.0.2012.0522. On My Accounts page it is called REX Essential in on area and REX Essentials PLus in another area. I see there are several upgrades posted for: REX Essentials 3.0.2012.0522 to REX Essentials Plus 3.1.2012.1028, for REX Essentials 3.0.2012.0522 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive 3.5.2012.1029, for to REX Essentials Plus 3.1.2012.1028 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive 3.5.2012.1029. Then there is the Beta Updates REX Essentials Plus Overdrive 3.5.2012.1029 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive SP1 3.6.2013.0124, and REX Essentials Plus 3.1.2012.1028 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive SP1 3.2.2013.0123 . Could some one kindly advise an old man as to the logical course to follow...assuming 1) REX Essentials 3.0.2012.0522 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive 3.5.2012.1029 2) REX Essentials Plus Overdrive 3.5.2012.1029 to REX Essentials Plus Overdrive SP1 3.6.2013.0124, but this carries some heavy warnings. Thank you
  3. Hello, I hope you can assist. I have a couple of problems with my programme. Firstly, is the random freeze Reading through the Forum It seems that this seems to be quite a common issue. Since I have installed REX Essential Plus a short while ago, I have been experiencing total freezing with each & every FSX flight , and it’s not recoverable. This can happen randomly after say…. 20 mins into the flight or just in final approach etc. It’s both frustrating & disappointing to put it mildly . I have run similar flights ( flying PMDG Jetstream 4100) without REX , just using the FSX live weather just to ensure it’s not happening for some other reason, but all such flights run perfectly without REX & does not freeze. The Second problem concerns the startup. I get the opening page , then the Main page (with the 3 options). Then it starts loading Weather Download Process, which loads to about half way then it too freezes, can’t get any further, I have to terminate it. I have a high end specially built gaming PC, with Windows 7 (x64), with FSX, SP1,2 & Acceleration. I hope there is a solution or a remedy, as currently, currently I have stopped using REX altogether, which is a shame as it’s a great product. Thanks in advance. Ian Zetland
  4. I´m not quite sure if I am right here... My Problem is: I use the Ifly 737 with REX Essential+ Overdrive on Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit and somehow a light source in the cockpit is kind of "flashing" I hope you understand what I mean. My question is. Is this because of REX or should I contact the IFLY Support? Best regards
  5. Ok pretty easy to know if it is, I know mine is. But how do I know if the settings I changed in REX are saved and loaded into FSX. Do I have to click "fly now" before REX even loads the other textures or what? because I have Air Hauler and I have to open FSX with Airhauler first and then REX by clicking fly now then I just ignore the "Microsoft flight is already running" window. Does that affect the loading within FSX from REX?
  6. have installed REX o'drive have installed in correct location have read and complied with all instuctions (I think)i only get partial texture screen shots some sky, clouds nothing else
  7. sorry to be so inept but how do you search for the location of the initial folder ( senior moment) thanks
  8. Hello, I have REX extreeme + overdrive for FSX. it is great enhancement. However, during dawn and dusk in each change of environment colour (every step in light on or off) which is cca every 3-4 minutes, the environment (clouds, sky and all features drawn by REX) flashes. It looks like all is re-drawn and it takes few FPSs to get back to normal look which looks not very natural. Is it normal feature or normal limitation of FSX ? or is it something which can be changed bz some settings ? (at that time the FPS is cca 20-30...) many thanks for any opinion. JM
  9. When I was looking at the updates for REX Ess, I read this: RECOMMEDATION: If you currently have an account with the Flightsimstore, we recommend that you download and install the full version of REX Essential Plus. And this raised a couple of questions, nl: - Why is the full version only recommended when you only have a flightsimstore account and not for other users? I would like a full version, so I dont have to install both packages every time. - And I do have an account there, so I guess I need the full version, but where do I download the full version of REX Ess plus?
  10. Hello Gang! I have REX Essential Plus HD for FSX, Build 3.1.2012.1028. I can't figure out to save my life what update applies to my build. In addition, I am looking at upgrading to Overdrive but have no idea what product I need to download or purchase to accomplish this. Any help is appreciated. Thanks! Dennis
  11. To The Team, I was just reading your warnings on the Public Beta download for the REX ESSENTIAL PLUS OVERDRIVE SERVICE PACK 1 and saw that you folk had made a comment as follows: Fourth, we want to ALERT YOU, that because a feature is in a public beta does not mean it will end up in the final RTM release version. My thinking is if this is the case, as above, then it would obviously be better for me to wait until you release the Final RTM version, but I was wondering when would that happen, is it likely to be some time off in the distance yet, or would you be close to releasing the final version of the Service Back 1. I am not looking for specific dates, just a ball park idea of what likely time range you folk have in mind concerning this release, I was one of those people having issues with the Tropical Water textures not saving, but the rest of the install is fantastic, I am very happy with the whole product and have no complaints at all, it is really good and makes flying really enjoyable. I fly as a crewmember on the Starship Air Ambulance from NZAA, and I catch myself often looking out the window at the cloud textures and formations during flight, and then compare that with REX when I get home, and start flying on the FSX flightsim, and I find that it is not too far off the mark. A great product and much appreciated. regards John MD PC Aviator Date: Jan 11, 2013 19:17:04 Order id: #89516 Auckland NZ
  12. Hello I can't create solid overcast? I set my FSX weather to 8/8 cumulus or stratus overcast from 500'-3500'. From ground & from FL 100/200/300 I see holes in the overcast...~5-10%. I have CLOUD_COVERAGE_DENSITY=12, max cloud coverage in FSX, detailed clouds etc. I run REX+OV, with 3D 2048 tx DXT5, been searching the forum for answers & the only thing I found was DENSITY=12 & set cumulus to flat....is there something else I can do? Thanx!
  13. As many of you know, Essentials has been released a while ago and to be honest, this piece of Software doesn't run fine for most of us. While the Team has been busy with Latitude it's time to ask: When do we get an Update for this ? Esp. the WX Theme loading issue (while enabled WX+) is really annoying (and no, i don't want to change my security settings or put them off). While I was flying the past months with that crappy "map", my friends & I started to play a game which is called "Where am I ?" because every single Information is missing (Country Borders ? You are in EU air Space, there aren't borders*lol /ironic off). I had to learn that no customer feedback is welcome here, so after my flight I start to revert back to REX 2.0 with Overdrive and delete the Essential Files from HDD and wait for an Update to fix this Software.
  14. I have REX essential OD and was wondering would it work ok with GEX and UTX for Europe and USA or is it best I just buy REX Without the Overdrive Textures? Thank you. Lee
  15. Hi, the only bad thing I´´ve got with the REXE+ weather machine in standard as well as in the weather plus mode is the "frame jumping" between 8 and 50 frames. First I have to say that I locked the frames to 30 with an external limiter. Whenever REXE+ injects the weahter the frames are jumping what causes the sim to stutter for that several seconds. I tried a bit with the settings (refresh rate and so on) but didn´t really help to solve the problem Thanks for helping me! 16. Did SP1 patchs but now REX says that P3D is not active. The version number in About is correct for a good SP1 install.
  17. Hi, Just installed REX Ess+OD and all is working fine in FSX. Switched to P3D but find textures will not load because REX thinks I don't have a valid licence. P3D licence was purchased and installed and shows as activated in General page of Config section. Previous posts on this problem seem to require an email to Reed Stough. I will do so and include images of config and P3D user access receipt. Reed, if there's anything else you need, please let me know. Thanks in advance.
  18. It has been quite a while since anyone has asked, it seems, so I will ask now. Is there a version of essentials being produced for FS9 users of REX? Some of the Essentials improvements seem really rather important to me, most noteably the promise of streamlined and improved weather injection, faster texture loading, and a more reliable weather radar. These, I think, can be classed under support upgrades, rather than additions to the product, and I, for one, would like to see them in REX FS9. I'm currently unable to make use of many of the features of REX due to the general slowness of the program. I cannot, for example, use the weather radar... it freezes my computer if I click on it. Weather takes ten minutes to download and 15 minutes to swap textures and start the flight, even on my 10 Mbs cable connection. Although I love the textures and the weather when it works, for me, in FS9, REX just does not do the job. REX Essentials claimed to fix all those issues for FSX users. By their response, it seems to. Now can the FS9 crowd get some help?
  19. If I don't start my REX software, will the textures still be utilized by the default FSX weather engine? I ask because sometimes, it seems like the REX weather is inaccurate or out of date.
  20. Hello: I have completed a fresh install of FSX and REX. I have stepped through all the upgrades up to REX 2.0 - 2.0.2009.0818 (Service Pack 1) (i.e.- That is my current version) When I go to install the 2.0.2009.0914 the installer runs and terminates normally and tells me to reboot my computer. I do, then go in to REX and find my version is still 2.0.2009.0818. What could I be doing wrong? 21. Hello. I am having a problem getting REX to work. I apologize for the lengthy post, but I tried to include as many details as possible for your information. I have the Gold Edition of FSX. I have installed the included deluxe edition AND the acceleration pack. All is working well with FSX. I have unzipped, installed, and activated REX. REX was NOT installed in the main FSX folder, and it was also NOT installed in either of the Program Files folders. FSX was also NOT installed in either of the Program Files folders, and was installed in a folder of its own on the C drive titled FSX. I am running Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit. REX was installed in its own folder on the C drive simply titled REX. All directions were followed per the "IMPORTANT - READ ME!" page of the REX manual, including modifying the fsx.cfg file with TEXTURE_MAX_LOAD=4096. Microsoft .NET Version 3.5 is also verified as installed. My antivirus was disabled while attempting to run FSX through REX using the "I just want to fly" option. My Simulator Folder Location is selected correctly in Configuration Manager. It is selected as C:\FSX. The error in which I incur is as follows: I run REX and go to the main menu. I use the "I just want to fly" quick start option. REX begins to load everything, and it all goes well. After loading, REX continues to begin to load FSX, in which I get a prompt from Windows that FSX is attempting to run. I select "Yes" as usual to allow it. I then get the following error message: "The MSXML4 SP2 component is not installed. Please reinstall Flight Simulator to restore or repair this missing component." Now, I am not one to quickly run to support for the littlest things. I'm pretty good with computers in general, and built my own PC as well as overclocked my CPU on my own. So, when I run into a problem, I tend to google for solutions. I did just that and results came up with others having similar issues. However, these people were not able to load FSX whatsoever. They would receive this error when attempting to start FSX itself. I can actually start FSX with no problems at all. It's only when I attempt to start FSX through REX that I receive this error message. In either case, the solutions offered were as simple as "download MSXMl 4.0 SP2 from Microsoft and install it, and all will be well." Simple enough, so I did just that. I have verified that in my Add/Remove Programs list I have the following showing as installed: MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB954430), MSXML 4.0 SP2 (KB973688), and MSXML 4.0 SP2 Parser and SDK. However, I STILL receive the error when attempting to start FSX through REX. I'm at a standstill at this point, and really don't know what to do to get it running. I will say this, when attempting to start FSX through REX using the quick start "I just want to fly" option, after REX loads everything, and I get the error message, I press OK and the REX weather engine panel loads. However, it doesn't show anything. FSX does not start. So, one time after FSX did not start, I simply left the weather engine open and opened FSX using the FSX icon on my desktop. FSX opened and ran, and the weather engine loaded to what looked like a GPS map. I selected Chicago-O'hare as the location on a free flight, and loaded it. I then pressed ALT-TAB to get out of FSX just to check the weather engine pangel. It showed the aircraft location in the map as around Washington State, which didn't make sense. Just thought I woulds share that in case it gives you any insight. I really would like to have REX function as it should. Can someone please help? I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you very much. Also, reinstalling FSX isn't much of an option. For one, I don't think anything is wrong with FSX as it runs perfectly fine on its own. For 2, I am VERY wary of going that route as getting FSX activated in the first place was a nightmare. I ended up having to speak with a Microsoft tech and having him take over control of my computer through remote access to get everything running fine. I activated the deluxe edition perfectly fine, but then ran into a problem when installing the acceleration pack where the window for entering my product activation key wouldn't even show up. It just gave me an error stating that there was a problem loading the product activation window. I googled for a solution to this, and on Microsoft's website was listed a solution where you modify a value in the registry. Well, when I went to the registry to modify that value, the value was already entered as the value which it was supposed to be modified to, so that did nothing really. In either case, it was a nightmare and the tech had to go through this whole process of loading windows in safe mode and creating another user account and blah blah blah. I would rather not have to go through that again. If someone can help me with this, please do so. Thank you!
  22. Hi, Not sure if anyone can help with this. I've been having issues with the UI not displaying properly (as seen in attached screenshot). Firstly the UI does not fill it's assigned window, secondly some of the tabs have text missing or blanked by ither parts of the interface (as highlighted). I am using Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit), with REX installed at C:\REX Essential Plus Overdrive, as advised. Is this a windows issue or an issue with REX? Any help will be most appreciated, especially with being able to see blocked text! Matt
  23. Hopefully a straightforward question from a newbie! REXessential+withO/drive up and running in FSX. How do I load a weather theme of my choice? ie. Not current or recorded past weather scenarios. e.g. How DO I get to fly in a snowstorm in Hawaii? Would be happy to be referred to a previous post if there has been anyone else as unaccomplished. jeffk
  24. I just purchase GE Pro for ground textures and noticed that it wants to install sky textures as well. It has one texture set as default that can't be turned off. Does this overwrite my REX OD sky textures? Anyone have experience with this?
  25. Hello, The hard disk that I've had REX installed on failed, it was installed on a separate drive from the OS, which registry files do I remove to get rid of the prior installation? Thanks. Actually I need help with removing any registry files or any other files that were installed on the OS drive, if any.
