  1. I will need to check the real UTC times for when this test was conducted. I'll get back to you. In the meantime, the data has returned into my weather engine.
  2. Having now done a couple of test flights following the update, I have now been hit with more problems than before The first problem I have noticed is that the weather engine does not inject weather textures upon reaching the end of the weather region, meaning I have to manually force the program to inject the downloaded real world weather (And yes, I have weather engine/download enabled). This wouldn't be such an issue, if it wouldn't be for the extreme wind shifts encountered once the new weather is loaded in, resulting in my poor little Aerosoft Airbus A320 being battered by IAS changes of up to 200kts! (despite using wind smoothing in FSUIPC). Another problem I have noticed is that the actual weather experienced at an airport differs significantly from the weather forecasted on the aerodrome METAR report/Terminal Area Forecast. I conducted a flight from Melbourne (YMML) to the Gold Coast (YBCG), and upon landing, checked the weather in the ATIS and found it was nothing like what was supposed to be the prevailing conditions. The METAR said wind 220/6kts with cloud SCT054, but I was in fact greeted with wind 320/12kts and cloud OVC088 with quite poor visibility. I have set my FSX weather settings as outlined in the REX user manual, and have gone with weather region size of 15x15lat/long and disabled grid interpolation. I also re-installed SimConnect for the hell of it. What else could I try?

  4. Dear REX Support, Since buying REX Essential Plus Overdrive about three years ago, I have been having an extremely frustrating intermittent problem with the real-world weather engine not downloading winds and temperatures aloft data properly. I run the program as administrator and have it installed outside of the main program files, yet when I go to download weather, the download process runs and successfully downloads surface weather conditions, but not winds and temperatures aloft. When I go to view the weather synopsis at a particular airport/weather station, the METAR/TAF is there, along with wind and temperature from surface to 5000ft, but all other levels show up as "NO DATA" I have tried updating to the latest service pack to no avail, and decided to completely uninstall/reinstall REX to its original version from the time when I bought it. Suddenly the wind/temperature data came back and I was happy for about a month until recently REX has refused to download the data yet again. Today I have tried to fix the problem twice by updating, uninstalling and reinstalling but the problem still remains, leaving me totally baffled as to why. My internet connection is very solid, and I even tried rebooting my modem a couple of times to see if it would fix the issue, but no such luck - And this leaves me completely at a loss of what to do now, which is why I'm contacting you guys! I don't think it would be necessary to reinstall FSX because the issue has nothing to do with REX's interaction with my sim, It's simply the program's blatant refusal to download weather data properly... Additionally, I have discovered that archived mode also contains no winds/temperature aloft data. Hopefully you guys can help me end my frustration! Cheers.
  5. Never mind, I found a solution: I need to run both REX and FSX as administrator in order for them to connect properly with each other - Doh! Thanks anyway for your speedy reply.
  6. Hi, I purchased REX Essential Plus OD from FlightSimStore.com about a year ago, and upon successful installation outside of the (x86) folder, I became disappointed to find that every time I tried to inject weather in to FSX, I got an error message from FSX saying "The weather theme could not be loaded. Please check that the file exists and try again." I browsed support forums for a while and tried a few solutions, including re-installing twice, but nothing worked. After a while I gave up and left the program on a disk gathering dust. A year later, I have decided to revisit the problem and try to resolve it. I found a useful set of instructions for computer settings in order for REX to run properly: TN20121112 - 005 - WXPLUS WEATHER NOT INJECTING TITLE: WXPLUS mode weather not injecting SEVERITY: Severe ISSUE: During the injection process of the WXPLUS mode, the user receives an error message within FSX/P3D, that the "The weather theme could not be loaded. Please check this file exists and try again." CAUSE: 1. Improper installation of upgrade over full version. 2. Having full version and upgrade installed in Program Files. 3. Anti-virus software stopping file creation or file movement. 4. User Account Settings not being set to NEVER NOTIFY 5. Not having permissions between folders in a network setup. 6. Not having your CONFIGURATION MANAGER->GENERAL TAB->SIMULATOR LOCATION is set to the folder where FSX or Prepar3d Is installed. 7. Not having the correct Simconnect version installed. SOLUTION: CAUSE # 1 - Un-install the full version and upgrade version and re-install in a different folder that is outside of the Program Files, such as C:\REX. Be sure that you install the upgrade into the same folder as the full version such as C:\REX. CAUSE # 2 - See solution to cause # 1. CAUSE # 3 - Turn off the windows service for the anti-virus software, during use. We recommend Microsoft's Security Essential as a good anti-virus software. CAUSE # 4 - Search for "UAC" under your "Search for Programs and Files". Be sure to set the UAC to "Never Notify". You must have Administrator rights to your system to change this settings. CAUSE # 5 - Be sure that you have administrative rights set on both machines and folders if running a client/server setup. Go to the CONFIGURATION MANAGER->GENERAL TAB and be sure that you SIMULATOR FOLDER SETTING is set to the proper folder where FSX or P3D is installed. CAUSE # 6 - Be sure to verify that your SIMULATOR FOLDER LOCATION is set to the folder where FSX or Prepar3D is installed. CAUSE # 7 - Where REX is installed there is a Simconnect.msi file. Click that file to install the correct Simconnect. VERSIONS AFFECTED: REX Essential Plus 3.1.2012.1028 REX Essential Plus 3.5.2012.1029 UPDATES: none I tried all of the solutions listed above but no luck. I then re-installed a further two times and installed two updates bringing REX to version 3.7.2013.0715 - still not working I guess my question is: what have I done wrong and how can I get REX to work? It's a shame because I really want to experience this great product, but so far have only been given a headache My system is as follows: Dell XPS 8300, Intel 2nd Gen Core i7 2 i7-2600 / 3.4 GHz, 6.0 GB RAM, AMD Radeon HD 6450 graphics card, 1.0 GB video memory, 1333.0 MHz memory speed, Microsoft Windows 7 Home Premium
