    Allow me to address some of the points that have been brought up here - I know I can't necessarily address everything, since I am catching up on this thread after not seeing it for a while. The update is indeed much later than we would have liked. Honestly one of the primary delays was the Sky Force TU2, which also took far longer than expected due to having to rewrite the program, etc. Not to mention, as discussed before, that every texture had to be redone individually for P3D v4 compatibility. I am aware, as of course are Reed and Tim, that we have not always met our deadlines. We try to be transparent about what's going on and why it's taking longer, but many of the technical obstacles are protected by NDA so we have to be cryptic sometimes. It's not because we don't care about you, but we have to honor our agreements and protect our trade secrets. I am sure most of you can understand this. This is not to say we have not made mistakes. Could we have handled things differently? Sure. We live and learn, and we'll own up to our errors. We are always trying to improve our development, testing, and customer support procedures so we can get you a better product and a better experience. And we are committed to continuing to improve those things. Lastly, about the product itself: the required fixes truly are minor in scope. The bulk of the development work is done (the textures work), and we are testing now not only with our beta team but the Insider Program as well. We're hoping this may be the final build, provided nothing else comes up.

    The name of the product will remain Sky Force. After we release Weather Force you will not need ASN.

    First, we hear our customers each time they express their frustration over delays and releases dates not being met. Let me remind everyone we are a small firm. We do not have 20+ developers working for us so we have to prioritize our work. Let me address Worldwide Airports: 1.) The original version for FSX, FSX Steam, and P3D 1 to 3 took 2 YEARS to develop. The product as it stands works for those sims. 2.) When P3D v4 was released we had to redo ALL the textures, which is the core of the product. So what you are talking about is redoing what 2 years to develop all over again. What that entails is fixing the texture, putting it into the sim and seeing if that fixed it. If not we have repeat that process until the texture is complete and ready. There are 15 GIGS of textures. That just doesn't happen overnight. Just as a reminder WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED to make a product work for the next simulator. There is no written law that states we have to support the next version of a simulator. This has been assumed and it is not right to place this demand on developers. In reality, we should charge a fee for the update and the man hours, but we are giving this as a FREE update to all customers. Where things stands now, we are about to finish the third cycle of beta testing. This included not just our beta team, but also our Insider Program. Provided there are no major issues our next step will be to prepare the product for deployment. Let me now address the delay in other products: The consistent updates to Prepar3D has put a lot of extra work on our team that was never there 5 years ago. Also, we originally only had 1 product to update in the past. Now we have: REX 4 Texture Direct REX 4 Soft Clouds REX 4 Weather Architect WX Advantage Radar REX Worldwide Airports REX Sky Force This doesn't include the new products we currently are developing. So having these many products to keep up to date with a small team can be quite a challenge. So some are asking why has it taken so long for SIMAIR and some other things to get done. It is because every time there is a change in a sim, each one of these products has to be re-tested. Then if something needs to be fixed we have to drop what we are working on and fix it. I am not writing this to sound like we are victims here, but to merely communicate our perspective. Our goal is to satisfy our customers, but understand we have limited resources and things cannot happen overnight.

    I just installed EF set up a flight from KAVX to L35. I never have had such a immersive flight in all my years with the hobby. I am using auto mode. The only thing I added was the auto texture sync button. Maybe their is a good reason it was set to the off position ? I am using REX Sky-force and a non REX weather engine, PTA and it all gives a Flying Environment like no other. I have noticed that shaders are working non stop when flying in and out of clouds which gives changing shades with the position of the sun and clouds amazing! One can argue that it can get a bit too bright adjusting at times but it is a brilliant program at least for me. Environment Force is the wow factor hands down!

    UPDATE: 4/10/2019 We in the middle of our Lima Cycle test of Environment Force with Prepar3D 4.5 and so far so good! We do not expect delays with our Pre-Deployment of the product.

    REX ENVIRONMENT FORCE STATUS UPDATE: DEBUG PHASE Build: Release Build Update: 10/4/2018 We just completed our Alpha Cycle of testing with the new interface of the product. The test results were decently good. There are several fixes that need to be completed as well as some changes to one of the interfaces to make it more understandable. We are hoping to start our second (Beta) Cycle of three testing no later than Monday, October 8th. We do expect to have to go through at least one more cycle of testing after this one.     Some times there are things we just have to get off our mind. As a flight simmer for over 30 years I was fascinated by REX 2.0 when it came out in 2009. The textures etc. were something I never experienced before. Realistic clouds and better frame rates were unheard of to my memory. So, when REX was looking for beta testers for the upcoming REX Essentials, I was accepted to be one. At that time there really was only two platforms for the FS world. FSX and X Plane. So, in 2011 the testing began. One would think that an assembled group of testers would be able to work seamlessly with no problems. Ah, I learned that is not true. Tester lived all over the world in different time zone and most had a regular job. I was retired and had ample time. But, back then we somehow did work together to test the builds that we were given to test and of course report any problems etc. Not that easy 7 years ago. Much has changed. REX E was released and for the most part wasn't that bad. The developers would take the information from those who were using the program and improved it until they finally released REXE+OD which to this day is a great application. With each upgrade, there was no charge for the owners of the original application. Of course over the next 7 years we would go on to test many other products. We had beta tester come and go and even sadly one that passed away suddenly. I am no longer testing for REX, but I would like the FS community to know that it has been a great pleasure working with Reed and Tim and the rest of the team over the past seven years. They are the most honest, giving, kind people I have had the pleasure of working with. I owned my own business before retiring and my thought was that my reputation for what I did would reward me in the future. Reed and Tim in my opinion, go to extremes to make their public happy. Great support etc. and a great product. So, just a very heartfelt thanks to Tim and Reed to work on so many great products over the past 7 years. Thank you both and all others at REX Game Studios.     Here are some shots of SF (latest update) and EF (latest version) and all.is working as should , nice and smooth and fps are steady 30 + in p3d v4.5 hotfix version . Thanks REX , loving it!! Great job 😁

    I have to admit that I am reading some aspects of this debate with dismay, there's really no need for antagonism between users of different platforms. We share a common passion. I've been using sims since the early days and have just got back into it over the last few years. I returned with FSX:SE, and it was good to see how things had progressed, but it did not take long before I wanted more. I went to P3D. Sure, in the course of that I realised that some add-on investment would be lost. More importantly, as I migrated to P3D, I started to read of certain developers announcing that FSX versions of add-ons would no longer be developed. I'm not talking recent history here, so it's not as if the writing wasn't on the wall guys. I can only assume (emphasis on assume) that if new products were co-developed for all legacy platforms, a couple of things may happen: -costs may go up for all versions of the products -the timeline for new product would be extended Taking that into consideration, along with P3D adopting 64 bit architecture, I struggle to see the logic of staying with a platform that inevitably has a finite lifetime. Equally, given how products like P3D and associated add-ons can make more of new hardware architecture, ultimately it's a missed opportunity for the user. Now if FSX platform was 64 bit architecture already, then yeah, that'd be reason for concern, but it's not and never will be. New product development shouldn't necessarily be constrained by the lowest common denominator. I don't wish to get into a debate here, but just offer what I believe is a truly impartial view, having gone through the change curve already, and seeing how product lines are changing. ☮️

    REX WORLDWIDE AIRPORTS HD - STATUS UPDATE: DEBUG PHASE 6/20/2018 - We had to make some modifications to the enhanced airport's textures for KSLC. We will be implementing these in the next build for testing. This should be our last testing cycle before release. We hope to have this build for testing available to the beta team by Friday or Monday.

    REX SIMAIR STATUS DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: DELAYED Build: Release Build Date: 2/13/2019 STATUS: The Past... Thank you, everyone, for their patience with this project. The SIMAIR project has been a personal bitter/sweet experience. Sweet in that we are very excited about what this project has to offer. We have often felt that the goal of SIMAIR was to be a bridge between flight simulation and a better sense of reality. However, it has been bitter in that we have had to continually put the project on the back burner due needs in other areas of our business. SIMAIR's goal was to be a simulation within itself. Thus, this project has had some very ambitious goals. The Present... As you know we had a meeting in early February 2019 to discuss the feasibility of the project and whether we should continue or just scrap the project. The core of our business has dominated much of our time and left us with very little time to progress in development. Once we felt ready to jump in development something would require our attention elsewhere. Like I stated this is a VERY AMBITIOUS project. So it demands our fullest of attention. All of us in our meeting agreed that SIMAIR must be built. That SIMAIR fits perfectly into our vision for 2019 and beyond for REX Simulations. The Future... However, we have delayed development until Q2 2019. Our focus right now is to complete 3 key projects associated with the "FORCE" line of products: Sky Force - Technical Update 2.1, Sky Force - Creative Update 1, Environment Force, and Weather Force. We feel as a company that once Q2 arrives we will be in a better position to move forward with this project with more focus and determination. NEXT UPDATE: MONDAY, APRIL 1, 2019

Our final review with our QA team will be later this week after we review the testing documents.     Hi b757, In the past we have asked the LM team for this very thing. It isn't going to happen without their incorporation. This is what Sky Force excels at... 3D cloud models, which conforms to real-world cloud classification. With the upcoming Creative Update 1, it will only get better.

    Hi all Thanks for Sky force 3D Over the years I have had many weather add-ons and enjoyed all of them. However I feel Sky force 3D tops the lot. I don't usually use any live weather engine but the variety of clouds with SF3D is amazing. Thanks and keep up the good work. Bob

    Guys complaining: go fly your sim. If you can't accept that updating to V4 is a time consuming endeavor, involving editing thousands of textures one by one and testing them in the sim, like REX has explained, then I suggest you start your own company and make your own fast-software. Sheesh. Or do you think it's more likely that REX don't care about the profit they would have made by now if they had been able to update to V4 already? If they haven't, then there must be a pretty good reason, "dontcha" think? Lets all be patient and enjoy our sims filled with REX beautiful cloudscapes.

    There are no textures or cloud models included in Environment Force. For cloud and sky sync, Sky Force is necessary, however we will be opening the SDK up to other developers in the near future. Environment Force opens up new roads for Sky Force tech. Watch for free updates later in our Creative Update packages for Sky Force.

It is important to stress that Weather Force is closely related to Environment Force. Environment Force is also closely linked to Sky Force. .... Development continues on the core of Weather Force and Creative Update 1 for Sky Force. We will have more information on this update once Technical Update 2.1 for Sky Force is released.     Maybe I did not express my self very well, thanks for the advice, I did see that video several times and what I came up with is this, making those clouds move according to wind direction/speed should be part of SF 3D as it has the weather engine and cloud structure/creator already, EF to me is an upgrade (added missing element) to SF 3D to make it more alive and no need for another stand alone software to do that. never the less, I like it (and it's a must for me) and I will get it as soon as it's released, I just love the work these guys are doing. keep it up REX.

    First, please accept my apologies for the very late reply. Some of our staff have been taking some much needed time off before the final rush of the holidays. When we first started REX we developed to have one product do all things. This was our development philosophy from day 1 up until we started work on REX 4. With REX 4 we decided to split all the features of REX Essentials into different parts. The reason is because we found it trying to update one component of a MASSIVE program lead to many woes for customers to download such a large program again for a simple fix. Plus, it gave us the ability to expand the products as individual products. REX 4 has now led to REX 5 the "Force" products. This is where each product will specifically specialize in a key area of flight simulation: So here is the break down of the current products and their focus: FOR CLOUD MODELS, TEXTURES, SKY, SUN EFFECTS, MOON, LIGHTNING EFFECTS, SOUNDS, AND WEATHER: REX (5) Sky Force = Focuses on specifically the atmosphere and weather elements. All textures and cloud models center around the weather engine and its rendering. FOR AIRPORT TEXTURES: REX (5) Worldwide Airports = Focuses specifically on airport enhancements. FOR ACCURATE WEATHER RADAR WX Advantage Radar = Focuses on providing pilots an accurate view of the weather as they fly through it. UPCOMING PRODUCTS REX (5) Weather Force = Is a very highly advanced weather engine that will be a free addon to REX Sky Force and replace the its current weather engine. REX (5) Environment Force = more information coming soon on this product There are other products and ideas, but we are not ready to talk about yet.

This testing cycle will be completed on Wednesday, October 25th. We do expect to go to Charlie Cycle in our testing. But we do not expect any major fix items. More later.     Thought to check in on the SimAir threads to see if anything regarding this product would be posed after fsexpo, but the threads seem to be taken down. It would be disappointing as this product really could've added a lot to the environment of the simulator.

Just recently we have received updates to Texture Direct, Sky Force 3D, Worldwide Airports, and now the WX Radar, and everything is working and looking great.     Hi Rhobee, Thank you for contacting us, no worries. Sky Force and Worldwide Airports pretty much covers the spectrum, and is the latest and greatest of our products. However, there is one aspect of Texture Direct you would likely want to use.... the water features. In Texture Direct there is an options manager. De-select EVERYTHING except for water features. You will be good to go after that. Let me know if you need any further assistance. Cheers!
