Take a small look at what Environment Force is all about during an interview with AirdailyX. - Future in the Environment!

Good evening, I just started looking into the FXAA injection tool and was wondering if anyone had any profiles to share? I really like the ENB Natural, so was hoping to find something similar to this. Thank you, Kind regards, Joe

Hi Just posting to get myself verified

First, we hear our customers each time they express their frustration over delays and releases dates not being met. Let me remind everyone we are a small firm. We do not have 20+ developers working for us so we have to prioritize our work. Let me address Worldwide Airports: 1.) The original version for FSX, FSX Steam, and P3D 1 to 3 took 2 YEARS to develop. The product as it stands works for those sims. 2.) When P3D v4 was released we had to redo ALL the textures, which is the core of the product. So what you are talking about is redoing what 2 years to develop all over again. What that entails is fixing the texture, putting it into the sim and seeing if that fixed it. If not we have repeat that process until the texture is complete and ready. There are 15 GIGS of textures. That just doesn't happen overnight. Just as a reminder WE ARE NOT OBLIGATED to make a product work for the next simulator. There is no written law that states we have to support the next version of a simulator. This has been assumed and it is not right to place this demand on developers. In reality, we should charge a fee for the update and the man hours, but we are giving this as a FREE update to all customers. Where things stands now, we are about to finish the third cycle of beta testing. This included not just our beta team, but also our Insider Program. Provided there are no major issues our next step will be to prepare the product for deployment. Let me now address the delay in other products: The consistent updates to Prepar3D has put a lot of extra work on our team that was never there 5 years ago. Also, we originally only had 1 product to update in the past. Now we have: REX 4 Texture Direct REX 4 Soft Clouds REX 4 Weather Architect WX Advantage Radar REX Worldwide Airports REX Sky Force This doesn't include the new products we currently are developing. So having these many products to keep up to date with a small team can be quite a challenge. So some are asking why has it taken so long for SIMAIR and some other things to get done. It is because every time there is a change in a sim, each one of these products has to be re-tested. Then if something needs to be fixed we have to drop what we are working on and fix it. I am not writing this to sound like we are victims here, but to merely communicate our perspective. Our goal is to satisfy our customers, but understand we have limited resources and things cannot happen overnight.

Allow me to address some of the points that have been brought up here - I know I can't necessarily address everything, since I am catching up on this thread after not seeing it for a while. The update is indeed much later than we would have liked. Honestly one of the primary delays was the Sky Force TU2, which also took far longer than expected due to having to rewrite the program, etc. Not to mention, as discussed before, that every texture had to be redone individually for P3D v4 compatibility. I am aware, as of course are Reed and Tim, that we have not always met our deadlines. We try to be transparent about what's going on and why it's taking longer, but many of the technical obstacles are protected by NDA so we have to be cryptic sometimes. It's not because we don't care about you, but we have to honor our agreements and protect our trade secrets. I am sure most of you can understand this. This is not to say we have not made mistakes. Could we have handled things differently? Sure. We live and learn, and we'll own up to our errors. We are always trying to improve our development, testing, and customer support procedures so we can get you a better product and a better experience. And we are committed to continuing to improve those things. Lastly, about the product itself: the required fixes truly are minor in scope. The bulk of the development work is done (the textures work), and we are testing now not only with our beta team but the Insider Program as well. We're hoping this may be the final build, provided nothing else comes up.

The name of the product will remain Sky Force. After we release Weather Force you will not need ASN.

I just installed EF set up a flight from KAVX to L35. I never have had such a immersive flight in all my years with the hobby. I am using auto mode. The only thing I added was the auto texture sync button. Maybe their is a good reason it was set to the off position ? I am using REX Sky-force and a non REX weather engine, PTA and it all gives a Flying Environment like no other. I have noticed that shaders are working non stop when flying in and out of clouds which gives changing shades with the position of the sun and clouds amazing! One can argue that it can get a bit too bright adjusting at times but it is a brilliant program at least for me. Environment Force is the wow factor hands down!

UPDATE: 4/10/2019 We in the middle of our Lima Cycle test of Environment Force with Prepar3D 4.5 and so far so good! We do not expect delays with our Pre-Deployment of the product.

REX ENVIRONMENT FORCE STATUS UPDATE: DEBUG PHASE Build: Release Build Update: 10/4/2018 We just completed our Alpha Cycle of testing with the new interface of the product. The test results were decently good. There are several fixes that need to be completed as well as some changes to one of the interfaces to make it more understandable. We are hoping to start our second (Beta) Cycle of three testing no later than Monday, October 8th. We do expect to have to go through at least one more cycle of testing after this one. More to come soon. Next Update: Monday, October 15, 2018

Some times there are things we just have to get off our mind. As a flight simmer for over 30 years I was fascinated by REX 2.0 when it came out in 2009. The textures etc. were something I never experienced before. Realistic clouds and better frame rates were unheard of to my memory. So, when REX was looking for beta testers for the upcoming REX Essentials, I was accepted to be one. At that time there really was only two platforms for the FS world. FSX and X Plane. So, in 2011 the testing began. One would think that an assembled group of testers would be able to work seamlessly with no problems. Ah, I learned that is not true. Tester lived all over the world in different time zone and most had a regular job. I was retired and had ample time. But, back then we somehow did work together to test the builds that we were given to test and of course report any problems etc. Not that easy 7 years ago. Much has changed. REX E was released and for the most part wasn't that bad. The developers would take the information from those who were using the program and improved it until they finally released REXE+OD which to this day is a great application. With each upgrade, there was no charge for the owners of the original application. Of course over the next 7 years we would go on to test many other products. We had beta tester come and go and even sadly one that passed away suddenly. I am no longer testing for REX, but I would like the FS community to know that it has been a great pleasure working with Reed and Tim and the rest of the team over the past seven years. They are the most honest, giving, kind people I have had the pleasure of working with. I owned my own business before retiring and my thought was that my reputation for what I did would reward me in the future. Reed and Tim in my opinion, go to extremes to make their public happy. Great support etc. and a great product. So, just a very heartfelt thanks to Tim and Reed to work on so many great products over the past 7 years. Thank you both and all others at REX Game Studios. Regards: Bob G.

OFFICIAL STATEMENT FROM REX SIMULATIONS - A DIVISION OF REX GAME STUDIOS Recently there have been some comments made publicly about our recent transition from a previous network administrator to our current one. We feel it is necessary to address these comments here within this statement. First, we want to state that we are grateful for the years our previous network administrator had provided to us. However, it had become apparent that over the past three years the ability to maintain reliable service was becoming more and more difficult. As a company that performs its primary operations via the internet, it is extremely important that we maintain a sense of reliability. Over the past couple of years we have noticed a dramatic reduction in the services provided by our previous service provider. Many times we experienced unexplained outages that not only affected our support forum, but our email and primary website. Where most providers offer a service level agreement of 99.9% we noticed quickly that the service we were getting was not meeting that standard. In addition, though we asked on several occasions to be alerted of scheduled downtimes, there were fewer than one or two occasions where we were alerted and thus, we could not give our customers adequate warning to these outages. To add to the seriousness of the situation, we noticed that critical security patches were not implemented within a timely manner on our forum. The last update had been issued several months ago, yet our forum software remained potentially exposed. Even when we asked for these patches to be issued, it appeared to fall upon deaf ears. This we felt put our customers and company information in jeopardy. Thus, out of the protection of our company and customers we quickly implemented a plan to move all data from the previous administrator to our new service provider. As a result we have seen a dramatic increase with performance as well as the ability to rapidly upgrade our forum services to the latest build and security patches. This week we have been able to implement the newest build of the forum software (version 4). We hope that you can join us in celebrating this new move and feel secure about your experience.

G'day all, It's been a while since I posted over here, I haven't been doing much flying in FSX lately due to lots and lots of travel for work. What I have been doing in my spare time is this... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_B9ihgg6ibg I went solo last month after 6 months of monthly lessons at the Gliding Club of Western Australia, Cunderdin W.A. After going solo I bought a small action cam, an AEE SD-21, which I took up on the weekend to get some flying footage, and cut together this video to share with my friends. Let me know what you think! Cheers, Derek

I run both REX ESS PLUS OD and FSX as administrator. I keep the auto gen and scenery density high because I have add on airports and anything less only some of the jetways appear unless it is turned up in fsx settings to max. Here is my FSX.CFG and settings. I made a long flight the other day and had no problem but I tried last night to fly from KLAS-KORD and it froze 4 hours in and today from KMCI-KORD and froze 50 minutes in all happening while "real world weather assembling" is at the top. I also use My Traffic X 5.4B for AI. Can someone please help. Like said in another thread if FSX can be tweaked it works flawless but it is very hard to do so. REX WORLDWIDE AIRPORTS HD - STATUS UPDATE: DEBUG PHASE 6/20/2018 - We had to make some modifications to the enhanced airport's textures for KSLC. We will be implementing these in the next build for testing. This should be our last testing cycle before release. We hope to have this build for testing available to the beta team by Friday or Monday.

I have to admit that I am reading some aspects of this debate with dismay, there's really no need for antagonism between users of different platforms. We share a common passion. I've been using sims since the early days and have just got back into it over the last few years. I returned with FSX:SE, and it was good to see how things had progressed, but it did not take long before I wanted more. I went to P3D. Sure, in the course of that I realised that some add-on investment would be lost. More importantly, as I migrated to P3D, I started to read of certain developers announcing that FSX versions of add-ons would no longer be developed. I'm not talking recent history here, so it's not as if the writing wasn't on the wall guys. I can only assume (emphasis on assume) that if new products were co-developed for all legacy platforms, a couple of things may happen: -costs may go up for all versions of the products -the timeline for new product would be extended Taking that into consideration, along with P3D adopting 64 bit architecture, I struggle to see the logic of staying with a platform that inevitably has a finite lifetime. Equally, given how products like P3D and associated add-ons can make more of new hardware architecture, ultimately it's a missed opportunity for the user. Now if FSX platform was 64 bit architecture already, then yeah, that'd be reason for concern, but it's not and never will be. New product development shouldn't necessarily be constrained by the lowest common denominator. I don't wish to get into a debate here, but just offer what I believe is a truly impartial view, having gone through the change curve already, and seeing how product lines are changing. ☮️

FSX is dead. Time to catch up with the times. Why would developers waste precious time on a severely dated 32 bit platform?

I tried to use the link to apply for the insider discount, but the link takes me to the Microsoft Office sign in. I put my email in and I get the following: "This doesn't look like a work or school email. You can't sign in here with a personal account. Use your work or school account instead." Is there another way to apply for the discount? Thanks, Keith L

REX SIMAIR STATUS DEVELOPMENT UPDATE: DELAYED Build: Release Build Date: 2/13/2019 STATUS: The Past... Thank you, everyone, for their patience with this project. The SIMAIR project has been a personal bitter/sweet experience. Sweet in that we are very excited about what this project has to offer. We have often felt that the goal of SIMAIR was to be a bridge between flight simulation and a better sense of reality. However, it has been bitter in that we have had to continually put the project on the back burner due needs in other areas of our business. SIMAIR's goal was to be a simulation within itself. Thus, this project has had some very ambitious goals. The Present... As you know we had a meeting in early February 2019 to discuss the feasibility of the project and whether we should continue or just scrap the project. The core of our business has dominated much of our time and left us with very little time to progress in development. Once we felt ready to jump in development something would require our attention elsewhere. Like I stated this is a VERY AMBITIOUS project. So it demands our fullest of attention. All of us in our meeting agreed that SIMAIR must be built. That SIMAIR fits perfectly into our vision for 2019 and beyond for REX Simulations. The Future... However, we have delayed development until Q2 2019. Our focus right now is to complete 3 key projects associated with the "FORCE" line of products: Sky Force - Technical Update 2.1, Sky Force - Creative Update 1, Environment Force, and Weather Force. We feel as a company that once Q2 arrives we will be in a better position to move forward with this project with more focus and determination. NEXT UPDATE: MONDAY, APRIL 1, 2019

Our final review with our QA team will be later this week after we review the testing documents. After we have our review we will be able to determine if we will need a Charlie cycle of testing or start the process for release. Stay tuned. Next Update: Monday, October 29, 2018

Hi b757, In the past we have asked the LM team for this very thing. It isn't going to happen without their incorporation. This is what Sky Force excels at... 3D cloud models, which conforms to real-world cloud classification. With the upcoming Creative Update 1, it will only get better.

Hi all Thanks for Sky force 3D Over the years I have had many weather add-ons and enjoyed all of them. However I feel Sky force 3D tops the lot. I don't usually use any live weather engine but the variety of clouds with SF3D is amazing. Thanks and keep up the good work. Bob

Guys complaining: go fly your sim. If you can't accept that updating to V4 is a time consuming endeavor, involving editing thousands of textures one by one and testing them in the sim, like REX has explained, then I suggest you start your own company and make your own fast-software. Sheesh. Or do you think it's more likely that REX don't care about the profit they would have made by now if they had been able to update to V4 already? If they haven't, then there must be a pretty good reason, "dontcha" think? Lets all be patient and enjoy our sims filled with REX beautiful cloudscapes.

REQUIRED STEPS BEFORE POSTING FOR SUPPORT HELP If you are having issues we ask that your review this document before you post within our support forum. This will help us to answer all questions/issues more effectively and rapidly. BEFORE YOU DO ANYTHING!!! PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING BEFORE POSTING A SUPPORT TOPIC To receive support and gain full access, you must become a VERIFIED member. In order to accomplish this, you must post your REX order number and where you purchased REX into the following thread: http://www.realenvironmentxtreme.com/forums/index.php?/topic/36479-support-verification/&page=1 You will not receive support until you are a VERIFIED member. The verification topic is ONLY for verification purposes, so please don't add comments, support requests or reposts for verification, as they will be deleted immediately and without reply. ALWAYS INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING INFORMATION BELOW, PLACED INTO YOUR SIGNATURE. (Only those with the following criteria will be supplied with support first.) Operating system and version (32bit or 64bit)RAM memory sizeVideo card and memory sizeOverclocking?Total hard drive spaceUsing REX in a network or notWhich version of Flight Simulator installed (including service packs)Internet connection active or notWhich antivirus software runningWhether or not firewall runningWhether or not you are utilizing FSUIPCIf there are any error logs in the REX/ErrorLogs folder, make certain to include in your postIs UAC turned OFF in WindowsWhere is REX installedWhere is FSX installedDo you start REX by RIGHT CLICKING the exe file and selecting RUN AS ADMIN EACH time? What is your RATE AT WHICH WEATHER CHANGES OVER TIME set to in FS?Did you use a flightplan from REX when experiencing the error(s)?Did you make changes to the CONFIGURATION screen or are ALL the settings stock? PLEASE READ THE MANUAL. (We have found many of the issues on the support forum can be answered if the user reads the manual. We ask that you PLEASE take a few moments to review the manual before contacting support. If the manual does not help you resolve your issue, feel welcomed to add a support topic.) FULL VERSION INSTALLATION PROCEDURES BE SURE YOU INSTALL THE FULL VERSION OF YOUR REX PRODUCT OUTSIDE OF THE PROGRAM FILES/PROGRAM FILES (X86) FOLDER. (If you do this you will not be required to install REX as administrator.) IT IS RECOMMENDED THAT YOU HAVE FSX / FS2004 / OR PREPAR3D INSTALLED OUTSIDE OF YOUR PROGRAM FILES/PROGRAM FILES (X86) FOLDERS. (We have found on some newer operating systems that you may need to run REX and/or your flight simulator as Administrator to make things operate correctly. We strongly recommend you re-install your flight simulator software outside of the Program Files location.) UPGRADE INSTALLATION PROCEDURES PLEASE VERIFY YOU ARE INSTALLING THE PROPER UPGRADE BEFORE INSTALLING IT. (Please verify your current build by going to the ABOUT window in your REX product.) WE RECOMMEND THAT IF YOU HAVE YOUR CURRENT VERSION OF REX INSTALLED IN THE PROGRAM FILES/PROGRAM FILES(X86) FOLDER THAT YOU UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL OUTSIDE OF THIS FOLDER PRIOR TO INSTALLING THE UPGRADE. (If you do this you will reduce the risk of potential issues. You will also not be required to run REX as administrator.) PLEASE FOLLOW THE UPGRADE PROCEDURES TO THE MARK. (Over half of the support issues lately in the forums have been caused by user error in regards to installing incorrectly. This can be a major cause for failure if the upgrade is not follow specifically.) OPERATIONS PROCEDURES MAKE SURE YOU HAVE TURNED OFF UAC (User Account Control) WITHIN YOUR OPERATING SYSTEM. (We have found this can prevent many REX processes from running properly.) MAKE SURE YOUR REX PRODUCT HAS INBOUND/OUTBOUND RIGHTS IN YOUR FIREWALL SOFTWARE. (REX products require the internet to operate. It is possible some firewall software may prevent REX from communicating with the internet.) MAKE SURE THAT REX HAS EXCLUSION RIGHTS IN YOUR ANTIVIRUS SOFTWARE. (Some REX products are required to run .bat functions to convert images. These .bat files can often be construed by Antivirus software as malicious. If REX has not been given exclusion rights, then REX will be prevented from operating properly.) OVERCLOCKING YOUR SYSTEM. (We have often found that systems are overstressed by overclocking incorrectly. We have found that this can cause issues with REX operating properly with your flight simulator.) MAKE SURE FILE BACKUP SOFTWARE IS NOT OPERATING WHILE YOU ARE USING REX. (We have found some backup file software can lock files and cause REX to fail while operating. Please be sure that process is not operating while you are using REX.) MAKE SURE YOU HAVE SET THE SIMULATION FOLDER CORRECTLY. (This means that in some versions of REX you need to browse to the main folder where the main simulator executable is locations such as: fsx.exe.) UNINSTALL / RE-INSTALL PROCEDURES MAKE SURE YOU BACK UP YOUR TEXTURES BEFORE YOU UNINSTALL AND REINSTALL REX. (Some REX products backup your textures before they change them. These back files can be found under the parent folder of where the REX product is installed in the THEMES/BACKUP/INITIAL BACKUP folder.) MAKE SURE YOU CREATE A CONFIGURATION SETTINGS BACKUP ACCOUNT BEFORE YOU UNINSTALL. (Some REX products offer the ability to back up your configuration settings. If you have already created an account, you do not need to create another one OR you may lose access to some of your profiles.) AFTER UNINSTALLING REX PLEASE RUN CCLEANER TO CORRECT ANY REGISTRY ITEMS. (Just like your hard drive, your registry can become fragmented. We strongly recommend CCLEANER to correct any registry issues you may have. Registry issues can cause software to not operate properly.) MAKE SURE THAT YOU RUN A SYSTEM DEFRAG AFTER YOU RE-INSTALL REX. (Because some REX products are so large, it can cause your hard drive to become fragmented. We strongly recommend that your immediately run a system defrag after you re-install.) NEVER PIGGYBACK ON OTHER SUPPORT TOPICS. (If you do your post will be removed. Piggybacking makes it extremely difficult to give support to the original poster.) DO NOT KEEP BUMPING YOUR POST SO THAT YOUR POST IS AHEAD OF EVERYONE ELSE. (If you do this you will be immediately banned. Our team is dedicated to answering everyone within a timely manner.) ONLY INCLUDE ITEMS FOR SUPPORT AND NOT PERSONAL OPINIONS OR SUGGESTIONS. (Your thoughts and suggestions ARE IMPORTANT TO US. However, we have an area for personal opinions and suggestions. This inhibits us to getting to you and others effectively. Support items that include suggestions and opinions will be removed.) PLEASE ALLOW 12 TO 24 HOURS BEFORE A TECHNICAL SPECIALIST RESPONDS TO YOUR TOPIC. PLEASE DO NOT CALL THE REX GAME STUDIOS 800 # FOR SUPPORT. (Our company phone # is NOT a support hotline and not to be used for support.) PLEASE DO NOT USE PM’S FOR SUPPORT. (If you use our PM’s for support you will be told to use the support forum.) PLEASE BE SPECIFIC AND PRECISE ABOUT YOUR SUPPORT ITEM. (Although we understand details about a problem might be necessary at times, we ask that you try to keep it as specific as possible and not wordy. This is to your benefit in that we can promptly get to the issue.) IF ASKED TO EMAIL US DIRECTLY, PLEASE PROVIDE A LINK TO THE ORIGINAL SUPPORT TOPIC IN THE EMAIL. (This allows us to keep the topic updated with activity and to go back and resolve an issue.) ALL SUPPORT ITEMS THAT HAVE NOT HAD A RESPONSE FROM A CUSTOMER WITHIN 2 DAYS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SET TO PENDING. ALL SUPPORT ITEMS THAT HAVE NOT HAD A RESPONSE FROM A CUSTOM WITHIN 10 DAYS WILL BE AUTOMATICALLY SET TO RESOLVED AND CLOSED. (If for some reason you are not able to respond to our post within the allotted time, please PM us with a link of the post and we will re-open it.) BEFORE YOU ASK FOR SUPPORT WE ASK THAT YOU FIRST READ/REVIEW THE USER MANUAL. (Many of the support items asked in our forum can be easily answered by a simple review of the manual. If you ask a question in support that we know can be answered within the manual, do not be surprise OR offended if we direct you back to the manual.) WEATHER RELATED QUESTIONS MUST BE SUPPORTED WITH METAR DATA WITH DATE/TIME/LOCATION (ICAO). (It is impossible to answer weather related questions without the details. With the date, time, and location we can review our database to see what was being provided.) REMEMBER THIS IS A SIMULATOR AND NOT REAL LIFE. (There are MANY factors that could affect what you see within your flight simming experience that are out of our control. We are dependent upon 3rd parties to provide weather data. That data can sometimes be delayed or late. We have no control these other operations. Complaints about this will be immediately removed.)

REX SIMAIR STATUS UPDATE: ON HOLD Build: Release Build Update: 10/4/2018 I am sure most are thinking this project is dead. It has been awhile since we have updated the progress of SIMAIR. The state of the project is currently on hold. However, it is still very much alive. We just haven't had the resources or time to put into. The core of our focus has been solely on Sky Force, Weather Force, Environment Force, and Worldwide Airports. However, once we have these projects polished, our focus will move back to SIMAIR. Next Update: Monday, November 26, 2018

Silly I know. That song just popped in to my head when i started writing the title. Sincerely, thanks REX for your continued support of your customers through constant updates to your excellent products. It is much appreciated by many. Just recently we have received updates to Texture Direct, Sky Force 3D, Worldwide Airports, and now the WX Radar, and everything is working and looking great. Looking forward to your future developments. Cheers, Scott

Hey I know skyforce has tornados but it will be awsome if there is waterspouts added also in the future

Victor - Please accept my apologies for the very late reply. Things have been very busy with work. As of right now Sky Force requires an active internet connection for Registration, 3D Cloud Model Sync, and the Weather Engine functions. Also, Sky Force is limited to one license per machine.

It has come to our attention that a recent Windows Update has caused our REX WX Avoidance radar to fail in displaying certain mapping information. Because this problem is becoming more wide spread we will be issuing a patch within the next few days that will include several fixes for this and other key essential components of REX Essential Plus and REX Essential Plus Overdrive. We will release more details about this patch as we get closer to release. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this has caused.
