Just add GEX USA and Canada plus FS Global Ultimate The Americas and it'll take your whole flight sim experience to a different dimension. "IF you have ever flown in a commerical airliner over 30000 feet, you will notice that atmosphere appears differently as it does in flight simulator. All the MS Flight Simulators have never seemed to place effort into the environment. Sure the clouds look great and you can download the weather. That's awesome. But it never translated right when actually simulating a true visual environment. REX v2 creates an unbelievable environmental simulation. The Atmosphere appears as it would if you actually flying at 30000. The Visual is all the way to the horizon. I can't say enought about this product if you want to infuse a true environment simulation. The step Microsoft never took."

The texture theme possibilities are endless and the sample pictures on the website just cannot demonstrate the outstanding visuals one can expect during actual game play. As a plus, I have also seen a substantial increase in FPS along with a massive decrease it the "stutters" using the REX textures. The customer support after purchase is exceptional. Unbeknownst to me, I had installed REX incorrectly. The REX customer support (thanks Tim) worked with me until the problem was corrected. "Fine product for a fine price. REX for FS2004 may potentially change your flightsimming experience forever. As one who has been continually tweaking FS2004 since the early days when it first came out, and trying to get the old classic sim to be as close as possible to a real-life flight experience, REX certainly came as a welcoming surprise and have taken my FS2004 to new levels.
This package comes bundled with loads of textures that the user can customize to his or her heart's desire. It comes with new sky colors, water textures and waves, airport environments such as taxiways and runways, runway lights and strobe lights, and perhaps most dazzling of all, high-definition clouds. Due to the limitations of FS2004, you won't see the huge 4000 square pixel textures found in the FSX version of REX, but these textures look good enough, and chances are you won't see much of a difference when you put some screenshots up side-to-side.
In addition to textures, this package also comes bundled with its own weather engine and flight planner. Furthermore, the developers are still improving this product, so there should be more to come in the future. Not a bad deal for $34.95, considering the competition that is out there, and trust me, REX delivers much more.
So, if you are like me who have stuck with FS2004 after all these years, I would highly recommend this product for enthusiasts who are interested in improving the visual quality of their sim. Being once a pilot who have flown in the skies in real life, I would say that this product definitely deserves its title of "real environment," for it certainly brings back the breathtaking feel of the environment several thousands of feet in the air."

"I have purchased a number of graphics enhancements for FSX over the years, and most make an improvement. However, REX almost totally remakes FSX into something new. Seeing a realistic sky for the first time in all my years of flight simming blew me away. I have uninstalled XGraphics and now let REX do all of the special effects. The first thing I noticed was how nice it was to see the clouds reaching all of the way to the horizon instead of that stupid adjustable circle of clouds that surrounds your plane otherwise. There are also no more of those constant redraws of the clouds. I give REX 2 w/Overdrive 5 stars, 2 thumbs up and a laurel and hearty handshake (stole that from the movie Blazing Saddles)."

I downloaded it, ran the installer, configured the correct paths (all default), set it to all HIGHEST settings, ran the back-up, restarted my machine for the heck of it, started the program, pressed "Fly Now", waited for it to load, (about 6 minutes) , and haven't stopped screenshoting ever since! "The clouds, water and weather effects are simply gorgeous and I'm getting better framerates with the REX clouds over the default FSX clouds - and that's with the best textures loaded. The only drawback is that the improved water and sky textures are making the default FSX ground textures look really crappy by comparison. However, used with Megascenery's photoreal ground textures, the effect is stunning. Excellent product!"

"It raised my fps up 10 fps. With my PC (Q6600 2,4 GHz @ 3,6 Ghz , GTX 280, 4 GB Ram Raptor 300 GB) I have nice FPS (between 20 at big Airports and over 120 over the sea). You have to read and test a lot to run FSX fine. The textures are great and it's fun to fly with nice clouds around. The ground textures are also nice work!"

"REX has transformed my FSX experience. The incredible realism of the cloud formations and water effects has to be seen to be believed. I thought Active Sky and Xgraphics were good until now. I particulary like the tropical "haze" effect towards the horizon when flying out of my old favourite location of St Maarten in the Netherlands Antilles. My FPS have actually improved with the 4096 cloud resolution and DXT5 setting recommended to start with. In 25 years of flight simming REX is probably the best add-on I have purchased."
