CONFIGURATION - VISIBILITY
ALL of us hardcore simmers realize there are visibility bugs inherent within simconnect that can be QUITE frustrating at times. We have spent the past year coding and performing test after test to see if we could make this process more rich and full of 'depth'. We believe we have accomplish this task.
In addition to what we have created as the default for the new REX Weather Engine, we now give the user more options to further tweak and control the visibility throughout FSX/P3D.
Below is a listing of each new feature with a brief description:
ENABLE REAL VISIBILITY
This feature forces the REX Weather Engine to utilize the actual visibility setting provided by the metar report. Turning off this feature causes the REX Weather Engine to use a default setting of 20NM or to use the settings provided in the GLOBAL VISIBILITY LAYERS.
ENABLE REAL VISIBILITY SMOOTHING
This feature helps create more smoothness to the visibility across a region. Thus, because of the limitations of the FSX/P3D visibility plane we are still able to produce a smooth transition vertically and horizontality. However, this will also cause your metar reports to not accurately report the visibility for each station.
ENABLE REAL WEATHER FOG
With this feature turned on, the REX Weather Engine is forced to utilize special processes to create a more realistic fog representation vertically and horizontally based upon the metar report.
ENABLE STRATUS CLOUDS AS FOG
To bring more depth to fog within FSX/P3D, we have coded an option for the user to allow the REX Weather Engine to utilize stratus clouds to bring more realism to their flight experience. Thus, it gives the user a feeling of transition as they fly out of a fog deck.
SET GLOBAL VISIBILITY LAYERS
To satisfy those that want to create their own visibility layers we have provided a means to add your own visibility layers globally to FSX/P3D. The user can add as many layers as they want. Using this feature will supersede real weather visibility.
Next Feature: Wind Configuration
We will highlight some of the wind settings that can be modified for FSX/P3D.

@Tim.....I notice there is animosity among those who seem to have money to burn towards those who appreciate freeware or free updates. I think they just want to feel justified in all the money they spent on their hobby. What they fail to realize is that paying customers are benefiting from the updates to this product. I commend this company for standing by your customers in an age where most developers are pushing beta updates as new games or basically turning the experience of using there software into a credit card fest for every little feature. I truly appreciate you and all the REX team for your integrity and generosity towards your customers. Not to mention your great customer service. And I also see that this company does not follow the trends of others in the face of ridicule. Keep up the good work!

Just think... some folks at AVSIM think that giving away REX Essential (REX 3) for FREE is a desperate move on our part... hmmmm, go figure!
And just out of curosity, why do you take the low signal to noise ratio at Avsim with anything but a huge grain of salt?
